In the 1930s, Spanish workers and peasants launched a revolutionary struggle which threatened to overturn the rule of demagogic landowners and capitalists. Against them rose the fascist forces of General Franco, determined to crush the proletarian uprising.

The Spanish Revolution has since become a historic example of the potential for working people to fight back, discover their own power, and begin organising to run society themselves.

As Felix Morrow shows in these two classic Marxist works, the inspiring fight of these revolutionaries was tragically defeated by the reactionary efforts of Stalinists – as well as the disorienting leadership of the reformists and anarchists, who ultimately lacked a clear strategy for victory over capitalism.
