Although the rise and fall of Chile’s Popular Unity Party has been subjected minute research, little attention has been paid to its political architects the Socialist (PSCh) and the Communist parties. This book attempts to fill the gap through a detailed study of the PSCh using party records and archives — now largely destroyed by the 1973 military coup — and official and personal pronouncements of the party leaders.
